This paper proposes a conversation on the recent book Escuela de cineastas, published by Editorial Cátedra in collaboration with the Filmoteca Española, and signed by José Luis Castro de Paz and Asier Aranzubia. Their research is an exhaustive exploration of the activity developed in the Madrid Film School between 1947 and 1976. It uses a methodological approach that combines both historiographical elements and results derived from textual analysis. To this end, it analyzes different practices carried out by some of the most relevant names of the period (Luis García Berlanga, Victor Erice, Cecilia Bartolomé...). In the following pages we intend to explore the process of creation of the book, expand on some of its findings, reflect on its methodological richness and its rigor in the handling of sources and documents, inviting to the reader to participate in what is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable investigations of Spanish film historiography in recent years.
