Ahora was one of the lesser known daily news publications during the Spanish Civil War but nevertheless provided an unrivalled collection of graphic illustrations of events. It was founded in 1930 by Luis Montiel Balazart, who was its director together with Manuel Chaves Nogales. Many of the best known photojournalists of the day collaborated on the publication, and its pages offer a unique insight into the conflict. The purpose of this work was to analyze the content published during the war and understand the context of these images while investigating the careers of the photographers involved. What can now be seen is that Ahora produced some of the best existing examples of graphic information from the period.
