The methodology followed when translating a text depends crucially on a variety of factors among which text typology plays an essential role. In the present paper we reflect on the relationship between text typology and textual function in documents devoted to musical interpretation and the ways in which this function conditions the use of linguistic resources. These resources confer on these texts a peculiar typology that affects the translation strategies employed.
