Esta obra nos acerca a la percepción de las fronteras como espacio conflictivo, en este caso entre Europa y América, o incluso dentro del propio continente americano o africano. El acercamiento interdisciplinar, como reza el subtítulo de esta obra está servido si se quiere comprender el pasado y el presente de territorios en los que se producen encuentros o desencuentros por cuenta de la cultura, la lengua, la historia o la política.
