About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Entreculturas is an academic journal that stems from the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Translation, Communication and Applied Linguistics (HUM 767) with the aim to contributing to the widening of Translation Studies scientific production in Spanish at an international level. Its members belong to several universities: Universidad de Málaga, Universidad de Granada, Universidad Pablo de Olavide de Sevilla, Universidad de Córdoba, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Universidad de Murcia. The goal of our journal is the diffusion of scientific papers from different fields of Translation Studies, from a theoretical and practical point of view: history, methodology, description, didactics, interpreting, philology, literature, etc. In principle, it will be an online publication. When a new issue is published a collective e-mail (accompanied with the URL) will be sent out to institutions, scholars, students and professionals relating to the world of translation and interpreting.

Open Acces

The journal Entreculturas from the University of Malaga allows open access of its contents in an effort to ensure that scholars who need it can openly access to its research output, which will undoubtedly promote free circulation of ideas and global exchanges of information.

Contributions included in Entreculturas are published under a Creative Commons license (Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0). Any material stored in our database can be used, distributed and transferred and it can be publicly exhibited under certain conditions:

  1. Authorship and the original source of publication (journal, publishing house and URL) must be mentioned.
  2. It cannot be used for commercial purposes.
  3. The specifications of this user license have to be mentioned.

 

Peer Review Evaluation
Incoming contributions will be subject to anonymous peer review. Once the evaluation forms are complete, authors will receive a summary with commentaries about the proposal. Entreculturas reserves the right to not accept those contributions that, for justified reasons, do not fit in with the editorial line of the journal or do not comply with the specifications of the style sheet, or for any other valid reason. Rejection could also be determined without the submission being subjected to peer review.

Ethical policy
The journal Entreculturas will only accept original and unpublished contributions. Respect of editing rules (namely citations and other relevant data) is of paramount importance and shall abide by the guidelines of the style sheet. Furthermore, authors wanting to publish a contribution in Entreculturas shall keep the engagement with our journal, i.e. not submitting the contribution to another journal while the proposal is under review. Entreculturas reserves the right to not accept those contributions that, for justified reasons, do not fit in with the editorial line of the journal or do not comply with the specifications of the style sheet, or for any other valid reason. Rejection could also be determined without the submission being subjected to peer review. Once a proposal has been submitted and after acknowledgement of receipt, the editorial board of Entreculturas will subject it to a preliminary internal evaluation. Once the proposal is verified as complying with the style sheet and deemed as original and suitable for the journal, the editorial board shall proceed to send the submitted paper to two members of the advisory board specializing in the subject matter for its evaluation. In case of disparity in the review, a third member of the advisory board will intervene. It will be the obligation of the editorial board to maintain anonymity and confidentiality. When the evaluation process is complete, the author will receive a detailed summary with commentaries and arguments written by the reviewers. The editorial board shall endeavour to ensure that the time period between the submission of the proposal and the final evaluation does not exceed 10 months.

Author charges

Authors are not asked to pay Article Processing Charges (APCs) for this journal in any case. 

Digital Preservation Policies 

Entreculturas  uses DOI that is a persistent identifier, so it ensures that the link is to be preserved, and DOAJ that is a community peer initiative, which maintains the project of the directory of journals in open access collaborated to identify principles of transparency and good practices of academic publications. In addition, the full text is included in DIALNET

Antiplagiarism

Entreculturas  maintains a policy against plagiarism that ensures that all published works are unpublished, through the professional application of the services of Crossref Similarity Check of Ithenticate, to scan all proposals.
We use since 2019 this service in all documents that have passed the editorial classification process and are susceptible to be sent to a peer review.
The Jorunal reserves the right decision to reject articles with an inappropriate percentage of similarity.
We also have specific plagiarism detection tools such as Unicheck, an open access platform that monitors originality and controls plagiarism.

Interoperability Protocol

The Entreculturas journal provides an OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interface that allows other portals and information services to access the metadata of the published content.
