About the Journal
Editorial Policy, Evaluation Process, and Publication Guidelines
Trasvases entre la literatura y el cine is an academic journal aimed at the research community. Its thematic focus revolves around the relationships between literature and cinema, and it is dedicated to exploring the multiple connections between both artistic disciplines, especially cinematic adaptations or transpositions of literary texts, the influence of cinema on novels, their thematic connections, and theoretical and methodological reflection on how to approach their comparative study, without establishing hierarchies between the two arts or employing the equivocal and sterile concept of "fidelity" to conduct the analysis.
Given that these connections with cinema affect literature from all periods and languages, and that dialogue can be established in both directions (from literature to cinema, and also from cinema to literature), we aspire to create with this journal a multidisciplinary meeting point (aimed primarily at philologists, but also, among others, at experts in Film, Art History, and Translation and Interpretation) and an international forum for researchers interested in this field of study to present their work.
Peer Review Process
The journal's Editorial Board reserves the right to conduct an initial review of articles to ensure they meet the thematic and formal criteria. If they do not meet these requirements, the reasons for rejection will be communicated, and the article may be rejected or resubmitted if the proposal is adjusted in accordance with the Editorial Board's prior report.
Articles that do meet these standards will be subject to double-blind peer review. The OJS electronic platform on which the journal is hosted will be the means through which articles will be submitted:
http://www.revistas.uma.es/index.php/trasvases/information/authors
The articles will then be sent to two reviewers, who will have 30 days to issue their reports, which will include the following options:
- a) Acceptance.
- b) Acceptance subject to modifications.
- c) Rejection.
In all cases, a reason for the opinion will be included and sent to the author. A third review will be requested if unanimity is not achieved, and the confidentiality of both authors and reviewers will be maintained throughout the process.
The "Miscellaneous" and "Monograph" sections are composed of original research articles and are therefore evaluated through this blind peer review process; however, papers submitted to the non-reviewed sections are accepted or rejected by the Editorial Board. These sections, which do not include articles (hence the absence of an abstract or keyword) and are therefore not subject to double-blind review, are the following:
- "Presentation" (by the person coordinating the monograph).
- "Corpus" (filmographic and/or bibliographical).
- "The Voice of the Creators" (interview with writers and filmmakers from the dual perspective of literature and cinema).
- "Reviews" (regarding recent books that specifically address the relationship between literature and cinema).
Reviewers agree to recuse themselves if they detect a potential conflict of interest. To ensure the integrity of anonymous reviews, all those involved in the process must follow the instructions detailed in "Ensuring An Anonymous Review."

The journal's Editorial Board is committed to maintaining a regular publication of one issue per year from the date of its first publication.

Publishing Ethics Commitment
The journal Trasvases entre la literatura y el cine bases its code of ethics on the good practice guidelines developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
Good Publishing Practices in Gender Equality
UMA Editorial, as an academic imprint of the University of Málaga (UMA) managed through the Publications and Scientific Dissemination Service of the Vice-Rector's Office for Research and Knowledge Transfer of the University of Málaga (UMA), shares the institution's values. Among them is the establishment of "equality" between women and men.
In this regard, we follow the guidelines of the Publishing Style Guide of the Publications and Scientific Dissemination Service, which is based on the UMA's Guidelines for the Equal Use of Language and Image (2015), a useful tool that offers resources and strategies to avoid linguistic sexism in publishing, teaching, research, and management activities.
Authors' Commitment
The authors undertake that the articles submitted are original, do not contain plagiarism, and are not pending publication or acceptance by other journals.
The authors guarantee the veracity of the information provided in the content of their research and assure that all co-authors have significantly contributed to its development.
The authors authorize their article to be submitted to an anonymous peer review process and commit to correcting the manuscripts as indicated in the evaluation reports and/or the Editorial Committee.
Editors' Commitment
The editors are responsible for the content published in the journal and ensure that the acceptance or rejection of articles is based exclusively on quality criteria and adherence to the publication's standards, and in no case on discriminatory criteria based on sexual orientation, religious affiliation, ideology, gender, or nationality.
The editors must ensure the independence of the journal and the published articles, thus avoiding any conflict of interest that may arise between the authors and the content of their research, the publishing entity, or external reviewers.
The editors will submit received articles (provided they comply with thematic and formal standards) to a double-blind peer review system before publication, and the confidentiality of both the author and the external reviewers will be guaranteed.
Peer Reviewers' Commitment
Acceptance to participate in the journal as an external reviewer implies a commitment to submit the article report within the specified period of one month.
Reviewers will decline their participation if they consider a conflict of interest may arise or their impartiality may be questioned.
Anti-Plagiarism
Transvases entre la literatura y el cine maintains an anti-plagiarism policy that ensures that all published works are unpublished, through the professional application of iThenticate's Crossref Similarity Check services to scan all proposals. We use the service for all documents that have passed the editorial classification process and are eligible for blind peer review.
The Journal reserves the right to reject articles with an inadequate similarity percentage.
We also have specific plagiarism detection tools such as Unicheck, an open-access platform that monitors originality and controls plagiarism.

All our electronic content (website, manuscripts, etc.) is stored in multiple sources: content visible on our server, online, and open access for readers. A copy of this content is kept as an additional backup, as the OJS software makes weekly copies using the LOCKSS and CLOCKS systems. The journal has a DOI, which also ensures long-lasting access through Crossref. The journal's information is also available openly in various databases such as REBID and DIALNET, ensuring the preservation of content through more than one source of information.

LOCKSS
Open Journal Systems supports the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which guarantees a permanent and secure archive for the journal. LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by the Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly searching registered journals to collect newly published content and archive it. Each archive is continuously validated against records from other libraries, so any damaged or lost content can be restored using those records or the journal itself.
You can find the license and stored content through the LOCKSS Publisher Manifesto page.
CLOCKSS
Open Journal Systems also supports the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure a permanent and secure archive for the journal. CLOCKSS is based on the open-source LOCKSS software developed at Stanford University Library, which allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly checking the websites of registered journals for recently published content and archiving it. Each archive is constantly validated against other library caches, and if content is detected as corrupted or lost, other caches or the journal are used to restore it.
You can view the stored content through the CLOCKSS Editorial Manifesto page.
Additionally, the journal is indexed in the Dialnet database, ensuring the preservation of its content. It is also in the process of being included in the Institutional Repository of the University of Malaga (RIUMA).
