This paper deals with the analysis of the 35 news about reading in the Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias in 2012. The goal is to find out if new technologies are influencing the reading habits. The analysis is based on the study of the frequency rate and semantic value of a key words selection – present in the news corpus – for the object of the study. They allow observing the public discourses evolution along the period of time studied as a consequence of the new technologies development. The reading concept evolution along this period is also analyzed as well as the issues related to the reading concept such as reading sociology, its relationship with education and also the new reading formats.Downloads
