Abstract

Kant and Spinoza are the authors of reference in the Lectures on the Proofs of the Existence of God. Kant, because of his criticism to the arguments and of their loss of prestige he has incited. But Hegel coincides with Kant that from the finite it is only possible to reach the finite and also that behind all the proofs concerning God’s existence we find the ontological argument, the only one that offers the true concept of God. Whereas Spinoza is basic, because he shows the infinite understanding, for which God is not an object in front of man or outside to him, by means of the concept of substance one, causa sui, and his «substantiality system» or pantheism. However, and that is Hegel’s criticism, Spinoza only arrived to think the infinite like substance, but not like subject or spirit.
