About the Journal

Focus and scope

The journal addresses the study, experimentation, innovation and research on the Practicum and External Practices of student learning in all areas (Health Sciences, Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences and Humanities) in their professional contexts. It is a journal that publishes articles in three languages (Spanish, English and Portuguese) from an international scope and oriented to all educational levels; with general objectives, such as: The creation of a scientific community, the dissemination and diffusion of experiences and research on the Practical and External Practices of student learning.

The journal has the firm purpose of working to be indexed in the best international databases, catalogs, search engines and repositories. For this reason, it aims to consider of research articles as preferential.

The journal is open to the participation of authors from outside the publishing entity and the REPPE Association. The publisher resorts to external evaluators to the entity or institution that publishes the journal, with a constant work to expand in quality and quantity its base of external evaluations.

It is a priority that the contributions address issues related to research, experimentation and evaluation of experiences that allow understanding and improving the learning of the Practicum and Internships of students from all areas (Health Sciences, Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences and Humanities) in professional contexts.

Key words are: Practicum, External Practices, Final Degree Project -TFG-, Master's Final Project -TFM-, Tutoring, Service Learning, Supervision, Portfolio of evidences, Dual and alternating education, Organization of practices, Network of practice centers, Evaluation of learning in practice, ICT applied to external practices, Professional competences, Clinical Practices, Clinical Education... among others.

Topic: Studies, reports, manuscripts, research reports, description of research lines, events on the topic, opinions and reviews related to this topic are also accepted.

Peer review process 

The review process has two phases: A first phase, review and evaluation by the editor with a quick response to inform whether the work is in line with the objectives and nature of the journal, as equally with formal and substantive aspects (narrative quality, logical structure, argumentation, documentation, methodological rigor -except experiences-, results according to objectives and methods). Do not accept any article that does not use the template. Second phase: if positive, the editor will send a response to the authors, passing immediately to an evaluation by two expert reviewers in the subject matter and in a totally anonymous process (peer review) by the double-blind system of the platform. If it does not receive a positive evaluation by both evaluators, it will be passed to a third evaluator who will decide the acceptance, modification or rejection of the contribution.

Open access policy 

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps a greater global exchange of knowledge. Revista Practicum does not charge article processing charges (APC).

Anti-plagiarism system

Revista Practicum maintains an anti-plagiarism policy that ensures that all published papers are unpublished, through the professional application of Ithenticate's Crossref Similarity Check services to scan all submissions. We use the service on all papers that have passed the editorial classification process and are eligible for blind peer review.

The Journal reserves the decision to reject articles with an inadequate similarity percentage. We also have specific plagiarism detection tools such as Unicheck, a free access platform that monitors originality and controls plagiarism. 

Functions of the editorial team

Editor and Associate Editor elected from and according to REPPE statutes: manage the decisions of the editorial team, especially in the management of publication programs, organize evaluation systems, advise and keep abreast of editorial activities in the field, distribute peer reviews and manage the production process.

Co-Editors. They play a key role in ensuring the quality and credibility of the journal. They should be enthusiastic, creative, have in-depth knowledge of the subject and be in contact with the REPPE community or network, such as other expert researchers in the field. The editors establish the editorial policy, which consists of deciding, among others: the areas of interest, peer review, the journal's audience, the advisors or persons who can guide and advise at a specific moment, the scientific committee and the production team. The tasks of the editors are the distribution of responsibilities, control of editorial processes, commercial management, dissemination of the journal, planning its processes and approving issues, financing, etc.

Editorial and publishing team assists the Management in the process of support in all tasks related to the publication of issues, technological support and maintenance of the platform; as well as in all tasks related to the management of authors, mailing and communication, dissemination of the journal, creation of materials, etc.

Advisory Committee are people with experience in the field of the journal's subject matter who can provide knowledge on the best editorial development.

Scientific Committee are people of outstanding relevance in the scientific field of the subject of the journal.

Reviewers or peer reviewers are people who may or may not belong to the scientific and advisory committee, and whose judgment and evaluation of the articles is necessary or valuable. An annual list of reviewers who "de facto" have participated in the evaluations is created. They are invited by the editor to evaluate the articles, and may also be recommended by the editorial team.

History of the journal

The creation of the Revista Prácticum -REP- was born in the symposium on the Practicum and external practices held in June / July 2015 in Poio (Pontevedra), a group of teachers and researchers accept the challenge of creating an association that has by title Practicum Network. Association for the development of the Practicum and external practices -REPPE- (registration number 2016 / 020831-1st), along with the project to launch a periodical publication.
