About the Journal

Focus and scope

The Revista Prácticum is an international scientific publication dedicated to research, innovation and evaluation of learning processes in professional contexts. The journal focuses specifically on the study of practicum and external placements for students from all areas of knowledge (health sciences, sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities) in the field of higher education and professional training.

Strategic Objectives

  1. To consolidate a global scientific community that analyses the connection between academic theory and professional practice.
  2. To promote the transfer of knowledge through the publication of original research in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
  3. To promote international debate on models of supervision, evaluation and tutoring in practical contexts.

Quality and Editorial Policy As part of its commitment to scientific excellence and indexing in high-impact databases (Scopus, WoS), the journal prioritises the publication of empirical research articles. The editorial process guarantees the complete independence of authors from the publishing entity and the REPPE Association. All contributions are subject to a double-blind peer review system carried out by international external experts, ensuring the objectivity and quality of the content according to COPE standards.

Thematic Lines and Keywords The journal accepts original manuscripts, systematic reviews and case studies based on:

  • Structure and Management: Organisation of internships, network of centres, dual and alternating teaching.
  • Training Processes: Tutoring, supervision, service learning and professional skills.
  • Assessment and Innovation: Evidence portfolios, ICT applied to external placements, learning assessment and clinical placements.
  • Academic Results: Research linked to practice-focused Final Degree Projects (TFG) and Final Master's Projects (TFM).

Peer review process

The review process has two phases: A first phase, review and evaluation by the editor with a quick response to inform whether the work is in line with the objectives and nature of the journal, as well as with formal and substantive aspects (quality of narration, logical structure, argumentation, documentation, methodological rigour, results according to objectives and methods). It is an essential requirement that manuscripts comply with the journal's official template in order to begin the evaluation process. Second phase: if positive, the editor sends a response to the authors, immediately proceeding to an evaluation by two reviewers who are experts in the subject matter and in a completely anonymous process (peer review) using the platform's double-blind system. If the manuscript does not receive a positive evaluation from both reviewers, it will be sent to a third reviewer who will decide whether to accept, modify or reject the contribution.

Open access policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps to promote a greater global exchange of knowledge. Practicum Journal does not charge article processing charges (APC).

Anti-plagiarism system

Practicum Journal maintains an anti-plagiarism policy that ensures that all published works are original, through the professional application of Ithenticate's Crossref Similarity Check services to scan all submissions. We use the service on all documents that have passed the editorial classification process and are eligible for blind peer review.

The Journal reserves the right to reject articles with an inappropriate similarity percentage. We also have specific plagiarism detection tools such as Unicheck, an open-access platform that monitors originality and controls plagiarism.
