The objective of this work is to show how the fusion of traditional and the technologycal is, not only possible, but desirable, and the only way for the survival of such an important sector for the preservation of the cultural heritage society such as crafts. In this changing world, crafts, without abandoning their ancestral essence of a trade based on human labor, haves to be modernized in order to continue to exist as a sector and even be able to be competitive. This update will come from the hand of ICTs that, without altering the artisan nature of their product, can open up many forms of commercialization beyond the traditional ones.
The ARTCademy project is a clear example of that necessary collaboration between the old and the new, which can ensure the survival and development of the art-craft sector and contribute to the survival of rural towns and enclaves.
