In the first edition of the Encyclopaedia, Hegel presents his Philosophy of Spirit stating that «For us spirit has nature as its presupposition». In this claim of transition from the Philosophy of Nature to the Philosophy of Spirit lies one of Hegel’s main starting points for his demonstration about the development of the soul. This development is marked by his conception of spirit as the «truth of nature», and that «nature has vanished in this truth, and spirit has yielded itself as the Idea» (§300).
