Abstract

This study aims to analyze the connection between the textile design of Varvara Stepanova and Liubov Popova, prominent artists of Russian Constructivism, and their influence on the textile design of the Bauhaus, focusing on the intersection of drawing, line, and geometry to understand how Stepanova and Popova, through their textiles, contributed to a significant transformation in the aesthetics and function of the Bauhaus.

The research is based on an analytical-comparative methodology, resulting from the study of the textile works of Stepanova and Popova, where their textile designs are examined in the context of the artistic evolution of both, emphasizing their involvement in the First State Textile Printing Factory.

The results highlight the significance of Stepanova and Popova as pioneers of textile design, based on graphics, whose work laid the groundwork for a transformation that would be established in the Bauhaus. Ultimately, this study reveals the lasting impact of Stepanova and Popova on the evolution of Bauhaus textile design, emphasizing their fundamental role in redefining aesthetics and function within the movement.
