Abstract

Le Code Gálvez is an interdisciplinary artistic project that uses cultural/heritage content managed by an audiovisual management interface built using programming code. This project, coordinated by José María Alonso Calero, is part of the development of a research grant on the figure of Bernardo de Gálvez, awarded by the University of Malaga within the agreement with the Provincial Council of Malaga and Unicaja. The result was presented at the multicultural centre, Voices of Pensacola, Pensacola, Fl, USA, with an audiovisual performance format. The content of this work has been elaborated from an investigation based on the history of Bernardo de Gálvez during his period in Pensacola. Le Code Gálvez was produced in collaboration with Thomas Asmuth, professor at the School of Arts and Performing Arts at the University of West Florida, Pensacola. This work links various disciplines such as design, art, history and technology. For this project, an interface has been constructed to allows the management of videos with which a timeless analogy is shown that focuses on describing through sound and image the human need for power and territorial control. The videos are played using a generative narrative methodology by using a sound analyser in the interface to act on the algorithm of video playback according to the input signal. The software vvvv, a multipourpose and Ableton connected through the OSC (OpenSound Control) communication protocol have been used for this purpose. The installation was implemented with Neopixel Led technology, controlled by the Arduino microprocessor, using a microphone connected to Arduino as an interactive receiver. In this article we analyse the process of creation of this interdisciplinary work.
