Las propuestas de Ruiz-Vargas (1999) sobre neurociencia cognitiva y psicología experimental y las de Royce (1978/1999) sobre cómo progresar en la construcción teórica, publicadas en el anterior número de Escritos, no son divagaciones de teorizador ocioso. Hay en ellas abundante tela que cortar: dan para pensar y para discutir. Royce había diagnosticado con acierto hace veinte años el desinterés de la psicología por los temas teóricos, un desinterés que, pese a su alegato en favor de la teoría, desde entonces no ha dejado de crecer. Y ahora, en ese panorama de desertización teórica, Ruiz-Vargas anima el cotarro con una discusión de naturaleza epistemológica acerca de las relaciones entre dos diferentes disciplinas o, al menos, dos niveles de observación y explicación.
