Abstract

Currently, social media accumulates large amounts of users, where, amongst other things, fashion identities are manifested. This research pretends to be a first step in the study of significations that fashion carries by exploring which are the particularities of it for Chilean users, through the recognition of the trends, styles, and subcultures that Chilean fashion manifests through social media. To do that, an exploratory research was performed on a variety of posts in the platforms Tiktok and Instagram, observing the fashion influencers and their manners of self-representation, from a decolonial and independent perspective. This was done with a chart utilized as an observation guideline, to make a visual content analysis, appropriate for the visual nature of the studied phenomena.
