Abstract

Facing the challenges derived from the dramatic socioeconomic changes, there emerge discussions about the social responsibility of design and about the function of the designer in society are brought back. On account of the great social changes and of the need to move towards a sustainable development, the collaboration of professionals and researchers becomes essential. It is urgent to develop substantial improvements in all the fields of this discipline (professional, of research and education), which would have a fast reflection on society, the productive system and the living conditions in general.
