Abstract

Deconstruction is a concept with a strong presence in design. This appealing notion has gone, firstly, from linguistic theory to literature and then to design. This paper presents different approaches to this notion from various fundamental issues, which are considered essential for understanding the deconstruction theory proposed by Jacques Derrida, since 1967 based on the literature of the same author, Gadamer, Adorno and others.

It is also described a reflective journey made by a subject (viewer, designer or artist) that institutes deconstruction as an epistemological-hermeneutical space with a binary character, who interrogates the beautiful and the strange, in a sense of invasion, rupture or transgression seeking to break up with the canonical model established by the academy and tradition, in favor of an unprecedented form of expression. Finally, we present some intersections of design with the theory of deconstruction, which are didactically applicable.
