Abstract

In the 80’s, Spanish design experienced a boom, fostered by the climate of the new democratic regime, the desire of the new public administrations to refresh their looks, and the awareness of the industry of the need to compete in the European market. It is in this context that the first generation of women working in industrial design comes out. The aim of this work is to provide them with visibility and, at the same time, to analyse the factors that affect their appearance, later than their European and north American counterparts, in the male connotated background of product design.
