Nadie puede estar al corriente de todo lo que sucede hoy en la psicología, como lo demuestra el programa de nuestra convención. La situación actual podría compa­rarse con la de un circo, pero un circo más grande y bullicioso de lo que nunca habría llegado a imaginar Barnum; un espectáculo que ofrece roda una semana de emociones, refrescos y palomitas de maíz, en el que los amaestradores necesitan hasta tres días de actuacio­nes muy bien programadas para mostrar los nuevos tru­cos que han enseñado a sus animales. Durante los con­gresos no podemos dejar de admirar a los ágiles ponen­tes, suspendidos por encima de nosotros como si fuesen trapecistas en el cielo de la teoría, y salvados del desas­tre sólo por los finísimos hilos de los hechos; retenemos el aliento cuando vemos cómo uno de los asistentes introduce valientemente la cabeza entre las afiladas mandíbulas de otro. Estos congresos de psicología, grandiosos circos con dieciocho escenarios simultáneos en los que se hace todo un alarde de energía y talento, son la prueba de que la psicología está en marcha. Pero, ¿hacia dónde?
