This article focuses on the digital project Repensar Guernica (2017), a macro-site on the website of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía conceived on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the presentation of Pablo Picasso’s Guernica at the Spanish Pavilion of the 1937 Paris International Exposition. First, the article presents the motivations and decisions taken to produce it and contextualizes them. Next, it presents technical details, including processes and programming software, as well as a very brief list of some of the most relevant documents that can be found on the website. Finally, it presents some of the projects later produced, but directly related to Repensar Guernica. The article, on the one hand, proposes the work of digital conceptualization as a methodology not only valid but also necessary as a critical mechanism of the historical-artistic discourse and, on the other hand, argues in favor of this perspective in terms of quality, impact and recognition of this tool in the context of web design, digital mediations and collective forms of knowledge production.
