El ciclo de conferencias Encuentros de Arte & Arquitectura que desarrollamos en el Departamento de Arte y Arquitectura de la Universidad de Málaga surge se la necesidad de aglutinar al grupo de profesores que forman parte del Departamento, la mayoría de ellos, docentes que imparten las carreras de Bellas Artes y Arquitectura. Contamos con artistas-arquitectos, o simplemente personas que de alguna manera reúnen la condición de generar arquitectura como obra de arte, arte como obra de arquitectura o que simplemente tratan la arquitectura como contenedor y generador de arte. Dieron conferencias los siguientes participantes; Luis Camnitzer, pintor, artista, poeta visual y crítico, docente y teórico uruguayo nacido en Alemania. Ronald Rael y Virginia San Fratello, arquitectos norteamericanos ligados a las universidades de Berkeley y San Jose State de Silico Valley. Alfredo Jaar, artista visual y arquitecto chileno afincado en Nueva York. Francesca Llopis, video artista y pintora catalana. Ester Regueira, comisaria, historiadora del arte, editora y colaboradora habitual de la Bienal Manifesta. Y por último, Jesús Segura, artista y profesor de la Universidad de Murcia.
