Abstract

Parade, realistic ballet, from 1917 was a creation led by Jean Cocteau for the Ballet Russes of Serge Diaghilev’s company, which included the participation of Erik Satie, Pablo Picasso, Léonide Massine and Ernest Ansermet. A collective that created a unique work with avant-garde aspirations in the midst of the events of the First World War, provoking commotion among spectators, critics, and artists. To delve into the boos and applause that Parade received at its 1917 premiere in Paris, a appraisal is made of the press reviews that emerged after the premiere to examine the tone of the criticism and the media coverage that the ballet received.
