The prostitution, abolished in Spain in 1935, was regulated again after the civil war. The “Patronato de Protección a la Mujer” created in 1941 with the objective to rehabilitate to the prostitutes, was one of the instruments of the moralizing politics of the pro-Franco regime. The Memories of the mentioned patronage allow an approximation the knowledge of the prostitution, an activity developed widely during the post-war period, linked to the economic circumstances of the country and the effects of the repression on the defeated population.
