The artist’s book has evolved from a space of interdisciplinary experimentation to a medium that crosses boundaries between artistic disciplines. Originally, it merged visual poetry, experimental text, and graphics. This evolution continues with the arrival of digital technology, adopting a multimedia and transmedia character that defines the contemporary artistic landscape. The digital era offers new forms of artistic creation, increasing interaction and audience participation, redefining authorship, materiality, and the relationship between the viewer and the artwork. The emergence of digital formats like e-books and NFTs challenges the traditional concept of the artist’s book based on paper and the codex format. This transformation promotes a democratization of art, allowing greater accessibility and distribution, and opening new participatory experiences not only through the format but also through the spaces in which it is viewed. Users become co-authors of the work, generating immersive and unique experiences. Despite challenges in conservation, the expansion of digital artist books ensures that this genre remains relevant in contemporary artistic practice as technology continues to advance.
