The objective was to analyze the level of physical activity, the prevalence of overweight and obesity through the Body Mass Index (BMI) and Percentage of Body Fat (%GC), as indicators of health risk in university students. The study was characterized by being a transversal study, mixed-focused, non-experimental and descriptive. The sample consisted of 66 men and 65 women, all students of the sports training career. Among the main results was a BMI of 24.6 ± to 3.7 in men while in women 23.8 ± 3.8, with no significant differences. The % GM was 14.4 ± to 5.7 in men and 27.6 to 6.3 in women, with significant differences (p=0.000) and an overweight prevalence of 31.8% in men and 24.6% in women. In conclusion, timely identification of overweight and obesity in university students could be preventive in health risks.
