Abstract

Longitudinal studies are well-known especially from social sciences, psychology and medical research but recently they are also applied in Translation Studies. From 1996 to 2008, I carried a longitudinal study in translation and revision processes. In 1996 and 1997/1998, I did experiments with a group of last-year students, and in 2006/2007, the same persons were tested again - now as professionals. In this article, some of the first results of the longitudinal study are presented. Focus is on the subjects' communication competence, attentiveness and empathy, which are investigated again. The questions asked are: What is the situation ten years after the first experiments? What is the impact of experience on the macro strategy of the professional subjects?
