Doubted authenticity of Catholica Querimonia

Friar Alonso de Santo Tomás, Bishop of Málaga, became internationally renowned because of a satirical book entitled “Teatro Jesuítico” (“Jesuitical Theatre”), which was groundless attributed him. The black friar of Málaga rejected such a calumny in his Catholica Querimonia, where he defends enthusiastically the Jesuits. A. Arnauld and Concina doubted its authenticity and thought that Jesuits had added large passages of the work. This accusation has not been satisfactorily proved.
