The nineteenth was the great century for travel writing, a period deeply stamped with mark of Romanticism. The works of foreign travellers constitute excellent testimony for our acquaintance with Spain and particularly with that clichéd vision the rest of Europe then had of this country. The city of Malaga was one of the most visited in Andalusia principally for its natural beauty and economic attraction. In this first work on travellers and art in Malaga, we will analyse the impressions that these writers gained of the city´s architecture, this being precisely the aspect of Malaga that has been least valued.
