Málaga was in its origins a commerce-based city, although the specific date and size of the very first settlements of foreign traders in this city has remained debatable issue. After the war crisis at the beginning of the 18th century, the number of foreign traders in Málaga significantly increased and at that time they recovered former privileges and strengthened their good economic position in the city. The municipal registers of 1776 confirm this presence, showing that at this time there was a peak in this very old trend of foreign settling in Málaga.
