The introduction of the mechanical clock in Malaga and Granada (1491-1492)

The introduction of the mechanical clock in Málaga took place in 1491 by initiative of its bishop Pedro de Toledo and the corregidor García Fernández Manrique. Church and council paid for to equal parts their manufacture, installation in the tower of the mosque-cathedral and later maintenance. In the case of Granada it took place in 1492 when its Hernando de Talavera bishop order three clocks to the watchmaker Guillermo: one for Alhambra and two for the city to expenses of the Crown.Downloads
