The mudéjares from the district of Malaga ransomed a certain number of Christian captives beteween 1488 and 1496. They were settlers and travellers captured during the wa of Granada. In this paper we discuss the way they were liberated, the cost of the ransoms and many other details. We include some biographical notes on the alfaqueque (ransomer) Lorenzo de Padilla, a namesake chronicler´s relative.
