Canada, like the rest of the countries of the world, is forced to face the great challenges of an increasingly aging population. The purpose of this article is to analyze the demographic context of this country as well as the defining elements and the scope of the Canadian protection system after retirement. Guaranteeing sufficient income and an adequate standard of living for the elderly is not an easy task, even more so when, in addition, they must face the health, social and economic adversities caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
