Co-responsibility in the care of children is one of the most ambitius objetives pursued by the legislator when it comes to guaranteeing when it comes to guaranteeing when it comes to guranteeing effective equality between womwn and men. In this sense, the specific regulations surrounding the protection os maternity and paternity have undergone numerous modications thoughout history in order to adapt to new family needs and the dual female role of mother and worker. Adn, as this work shows, there ar more and more facilities for Access to suspensión of work due to maternity and paternity, and the requirements for the enjoyment os Social Security benefits are increasingly more flexible, however, there is stil a long way to go to equalize the family and work burdens of both parents.
