“El sombrero sobre el escritorio” es una conferencia impartida en el ciclo de conferencias Encuentros de Arte & Arquitectura que desarrollamos en el Departamento de Arte y Arquitectura de la Universidad de Málaga el jueves 13 de mayo de 2021.
Artista uruguayo de origen alemán, Luis Camnitzer (Lübeck, Alemania, 1937) es una de las figuras clave del arte conceptual latinoamericano que ha desarrollado una prolífica obra (como ensayista, crítico de arte, comisario de exposiciones, pedagogo, conferenciante y creador de acciones y objetos) centrada en la capacidad transformadora del arte, al que considera en esencia un producto de la reflexión.
En esta conferencia diserta sobre las diferencias que halla entre las disciplinas del arte y de la arquitectura. Camnitzer, desde una inicial formación en la Facultad de Arquitectura de Montevideo y una posterior deserción de esta aterriza en el mundo del arte desde donde presta una especial atención a la labor educativa y a la defensa de un arte y educación que funcionen como un todo indivisible. A través de vídeos, fotografías, collages, grabados e instalaciones, propone desde entonces conceptos clave como la desmitificación del papel del artista en la sociedad del consumo, la capacidad artística del lenguaje, la desmaterialización del objeto artístico, el poder evocador de las imágenes y la implicación del espectador.
