Abstract

The study of the cult of Protesilaus in Scione as well as that of the legend regarding the city´  s foundation, reveal important aspects of the political use of its patrimony of myths and cults within the historical context of 5th century Greece. Moreover, their study highlights certain factores which ought to be introduced in the debate on the genesis and readjustment of some episodes, such as the burning of the ships, which are included in the Cycle of the Returns from Troy.
