The importance of families in the Holy Office many be evidenced by virtue of the bylaws about the relatives issued from the Crown, the Papacy and the Inquisition Council. These rules were also compiled in the Summary of the Granada´s Court, written in 1814. Thanks to the provisions recorded in the Summary we are able to analyze the figure of the relatives, as well as the evolution of the exemptions, privileges and duties granted to them during the Modern Age.
