The importance of slavery within XVIIIth century Málaga society will be analysed in some unpublished documents. However, the main database for this article will be the answers of more than 10.000 informants who lived in Málaga at the time of the Ensenada Local File (Catrasto de Ensenada). The numbers obtained show the existence of a small number of slaves owned by Málaga neighbours when compared with the ownership rates in other periods of the Modern Age and confronted with the number of declared servants. The Local Notary Files Certificates compared with the Local Church Files between 1750 and 1760 support this statement.
