Death is the biggest battle of life, and inside the city, fortress and penitentiany of Melilla, fight for survival was the goal of the citizens, the garrison and the exiles. Knowledge about demographic behavior of the population, in the transition of XVII to XVIII centuries, allows to explain, by means of other data military, social and religious history of the men and women who lived in and defended the city in that historic scenario.
