One of the many tactics of the Spanish Inquisition used to fight heresy were the ¨district visits¨, that allowed a closer surveillance over the good keeping of the orthodoxy in those places where the distance from the seat of the Inquisition Court facilitated the religious dissidence. Antequera, due to its unique characteristics, was submitted to a close surveillance by the Inquisition and was often object of these inspection visits.
