Malaga alcabalas. From the lease to the the collection (1501-1518)

Fom XVth century onwards the alcabalas were the most important ordinary taxes of the Crown of Castile and, therefore, the most significative index of urban consume. The list of alcabalas allow us on one hand study of fiscal districts and, on the other, the importance of each item sold in urban markets. However the scholar must consider as well the systems of perception of these taxes and the persons involved in them, because there was a clear struggle between differents sections of urban oligarchies in order to control the collection of the alcabalas.Downloads
