In the mid-seventeenth century, Málaga began a recession and difficulties in all areas, with important consequences for the population: famine, epidemics, natural disasters, declining sales, political instability... In a socio-religious point of view, the crisis manifested through an intensive repression against Christians of Jewish origin, which then became the preferred victims of the Inquisition. Among the many ones affected by these persecutions, there is a group of 99 people, whose sociological and religious features we try to analyse here, since they may help us to know better some of the guidelines about this minority and its role in the history of modern Spain.
