Abstract

This article traces the trajectory on the whereabouts of one the most renowned treasures of the history of the conquest of America, who called sources of Montezuma, ruler of the Aztec empire. Treasury Cortes and his conquistadores found, los during the “Noche Triste” and sought during the sixteenth century by the son of Hernán Cortés, and in the seventeeth century by the sign of a manuscript or painting of an indian, pointing to the place where hid in time of the conquest. The part about the search is based on documents both the Archivo General de Indias and the Archivo Histórico Nacional.
