This paper studies the introduction of classical mythology in the island of Syros at the hands of Neoclassicism, in the second half of the 19th century. Above all, the pictorial decorations (frescoes) of five buildings are studied: Town Hall, Apollo Theatre, Nikolaidis/Kois House, Velissaropulos House and Tamvakos/Vafiadakis House. And the reliefs of a bandstand. In addition to the mythological characters, including the gods Hermes, who is thought to have been born on the island, and Apollo, there are also historical figures from ancient Greece.
