The aim of this study, analyzing the action of game in soccer, describes the use of the interaction contexts that Spanish soccer team and their rival teams made in international championships. For this, 13 soccer matches were observed and codified (six from Euro'08 and seven from World Cup'10) using an ad hoc taxonomy system previously defined. The manual data registering was performed using specific software (MOTS). After, coordinates polar analysis was performed, using only as criterion behaviour the interaction contexts. The results obtained describe that Spanish and their opponents’ teams did not make the same use of the space of game in their matches, more offensive, showing the diachronic dimension of the events and combining the prospective and retrospective perspectives. This allows to know about the strategic component of the use of the interaction contexts made by the teams in the competition and to optimise specific training programmes to development decision making behaviours in a complex environment.
