Abstract

Objectives: To determine the stabilizing capacity of the Transversus abdominis through the Sahrmann Central Stability Test in weightlifting athletes from the Azuay Sports Federation.

Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study, carried out on FDA athletes. A registration form was modified for data collection and for evaluation Sahrmann Test and Chattanooga Stabilizer Pressure Biofeedback device. The tabulation and analysis of the data required the programs GNU PSPP v1.6.2 and Microsoft Excel 2016. The information was stored in a database and showed in tables.

Results: More than half of the studied population (66.6%) presents a lower stabilizing capacity, reaching levels 1 and 2 mostly through the execution of the Sahrmann central stability test.

Conclusions: Our results allowed us to identify that the activation capacity of TrA is insufficient, with reduced stability in 66.7% of the athletes from FDA, since they did not reach a level higher than 2 in the Sahrmann test, suggesting a high risk of injury.
