Abstract

Nowadays, tourism planning processes are carried out with sustainability aims. In this context, local agents need properly instruments that allow them to evaluate tourism sustainability and that provide them necessary information to formulate measures to carry out in destinations. In this paper we propose as measuring instrument a system of sustainable tourism indicators. We obtain synthetic indicators to use easily the information contained in the proposed system. These composite indicators provide a global vision and are obtained using a methodology that reduce subjectivity associated and facilitate the results interpretation. Finally, we analyse the sustainability of andalusian destinations to illustrate how the proposed methodology can be used and how the results should be interpreted.
