En palabras de su autor, este artículo procura, de una manera cordial con Foucault, rellenar un vacío dejado en Las palabras y las cosas. En concreto, Ernst Behler recupera aquí la importancia que el pensador francés le diera al lenguaje en su obra como síntoma privilegiado del tránsito entre Ilustración y Romanticismo, para así investigar más a fondo sus implicaciones en la teoría lingüística del primer Romanticismo alemán y la filosofía de Nietzsche.
