Abstract

The aim of chis research is to analyze rhe relarionships berween sryles of family socializarion, familism and values from an intercultural perspecrive. Ir is sought to demonstrate that the characteristics of each culture mark substantial differences in the structure of the adolescent’s values and the sryle of family socialization. A sample of 1070 adolescents from Valencia (Spain), and Tadó, Armenia, and Medellín (Colombia), whose ages ranged from 13 to 18, was used. The instruments have been rhe Scale of Family Socialization SOC30, che Scale of Familism FAM-1 and Schwartz ‘s scale values. The results of rhe discriminant analysis show thar rhere are significant differences in rhe socialization processes, familism and values in function of che cultural environment to which rhe adolescent belongs. Results are discussed and analyzed and it is suggested possible parhs for rhe furure research in this field.
