One undeniable feature of friendship is trust: friends trust in each other when they tell them secrets and help them especially when the risks are high.
This paper asks about the nature of that trust. It will be showed that, in thick relations of friendship and familiarity, trust is not a judgment about the risks of interacting with other but an emotionally loaded way of treating others. To support this conclusion, the paper will use three facts from the phenomenology of betrayal –that is, the reactive attitudes flowing from the destruction of trust.
