The aim of this paper is to examine the extent of Voltaire’s program, in order to bring the history to the new science, presented in his Nouvelles considerations sur l ?histoire. In the light of the critiques that Larcher gives to him about his Philosophie de l ?histoire and its response in La défense de mon oncle, it is shown that there are different epistemological criteria in historical and historiographical works of Voltaire and that the joint between them is problematic. This highlights the boundaries of his historiographical project.Downloads
